I am considering using fog at our school district but I have some questions before I start getting into deep. Do you have to set up a dedicated server to use this program? Can you use a desktop computer for a server and a workstation with 2 hard drives. Is there anything I have to purchase to use this program? Were do you go for help and support? I have purchased a 1 tbyte hard drive for cloning purposes will this work? Will fog work with windows 2000 and novell servers or does that even matter? All my machines dells and are windows xp machine does it work well with these machines? Any answers would be great.
Sure you can use a desktop computer, hardware req. are pretty low, we would recommend using at least 1GB or 2GB of memory. Nothing to purchase, completely free and completely open source. It will work with your server OSes without any issue, you clients can even join your domain after imaging if you wish. Check out the working/problematic hardware section of this wiki to see how well your hw is supported.
Ok I have installed fedora 11 but when I tried to install fog it didn't work. I read the manuel and watched the video so I reinstalled fedora thinking I forgot something and started over. How do you know if you are logged in fedora as root user will it show the folder as root? I think that was my problem but i forgot what i used for the username so I started over. Thanks for anyones help
